Well, it's been more than a month since my last blog entry. The respite was not planned - it seems that blogging just fell out of my daily routine, perhaps because, with Nathan being sick with bronchitis for around 2 weeks, there was no routine for a while. (Go ahead, Jamie - blame your son for your own blog-abandoning behavior!) In any event, there truly has been little to blog, as our life in Taiwan has become progressively more work-a-day & domestic, less & less touristy. Thankfully, Nathan survived his first bronchitis encounter without incident to fight another day.
Promises, promises. I note that in my previous entry, a video of the little tyke toddling about was promised. Well, videos of Nathan's early biped trials do exist - however, we have had too much trouble moving them from the pertinent camera into this laptop & onto the Internet. Now, the little man is not just walking, he's doing his best to develop a running style - he loves to pull away from Mom or Dad's handhold to attempt a run into many a convenience store. Well, they are shiny, air conditioned places. Nathan has also mastered Mandarin for "no," or literally "don't want," i.e., bu[4] yao[4]! He often attempts to say xie[4] xie[4], Mandarin for "thank you." Nathan's good looks have charmed many, many locals, & almost everyday he is greeted multiple times by strangers with the exclamation hao[3] ke[3] ai[4]!, or "so cute!" The boy is truly living the life.
June is upon us, which means we are less than 6 months away from arriving back in the U.S. Time has flown, is flying, & will soon bring us to Japan & then back home. Oh, by the way, the two photos herein are from our first family encounter with karaoke - enjoy more at:

Wow Nathan looks like such a little boy now. I wish we could see him running all over the place and talking in BOTH Chinese and English. Can he come and teach Madeline some Chinese? The only Chinese she says is "Ye ye" (grandpa) which she learned from Ni Hao Kai Lan (a tv show on Nick JR)...and not from me! Maybe we can meet up in Hawaii before you come back to the east coast...
