Taiwan Farewells Begin :-(

The past two days were bittersweet, as Taiwan farewells occupied the bulk of our schedule. First, on 8/2, we met with some good friends of mine from Taipei on the Dan[4]shui[3] riverfront (淡水河邊). The next day, we wandered the riverfront again with an old high school friend of mine, Michael Grande, & his family. The weather on both days was quite hot (nineties) & also quite humid - as they say here, "Hao[3] re[4]!" (好熱) - "Very hot!" All the same, we are all fairly acclimated to the summer weather now, & good times were had by all.

Tonight, I munched on a recent guilty pleasure of mine: CHICKEN MCNUGGETS. Yes. The third time I've eaten them in 2 weeks. Diagnosis: Chronic Homesickness. Strangely/appropriately, the McDonald's sound system was playing a mix of "plum pitiful" (quoting Ray Davis) Country-Western ballads.

As always, see http://picasaweb.google.com/jamie.parker for more ...

It's nice to see a photo of Michael Grande. He was a big help to our family when he was at TC Williams!

Oh the guilty pleasures of Chicken McNuggets...mmmm. And they come in All White Meat now too. Which begs the question...what was in them before?

Hope the move to Japan goes smoothly...good luck! We miss you guys....
