Our First Subway Trip

So, today we took our first ride on the Taipei City subway, journeying from our neighborhood station, Danshui, to a station near our destination neighborhood for the day, Shilin. Above is a map of the Taipei City subway system, which can be found here.

Our itinerary for the day was as follows: (1) family meal at a local Methodist church facility (many of Amy's maternal relatives are members of the congregation) followed by an extended visit there over tea, (2) family visit to the home of Amy's youngest maternal aunt, "San[1] A[1]yi[2]" (third aunt), & (3), before returning home, I received an awesome haircut at a local barber shop with San Aiyi's boyfriend, "Lin[surname] Shu[3]shu[2]," who also was overdue for a trim. Unfortunately, I have essentially no photos from all of this, as my camera battery ran out soon after we started part (1)! Nevertheless, see http://picasaweb.google.com/jamie.parker

Nathan seemed to enjoy his first subway ride immensely - passengers enjoyed attributing some of his facial features to me & some of them to Amy. Good times.

I'm enjoying your blog and following it daily. Sounds like people are pretty friendly -- of course, a baby is a great conversation starter. Love, DAD
